Arthurs Pass

Howdy folks, I’ve got something new to blog about (yay).

Last Saturday we went on a road trip to a place called Arthurs Pass which is like a little village in a national park of the same name. Melissa and Hannah go through here every time they go back home to Greymouth (lucky them).

We didn’t really do all that much and probably could have had a look around a bit more but it wont be the last time I see it im sure, we stopped to get some food and take a few pics of the Kea’s then we set off a bit further on to the Otira Viaduct, which FYI was finished in 1999 and was awarded the IPENZ Environmental award for the challenges of building the viaduct in the geologically complex and fragile alpine ecology of Arthurs Pass :-).

The on the way back we got a little excited about the snow and had a good ol’ snowball fight :-D (I won btw) which was great fun but cold on the hands.

Not long after leaving Christchurch we could see the mountains on the horizon and the scenery just kept getting better and better, I can’t wait till we set off again proper to explore more.

Enjoy the pics :-)

Hi Nathan - pictures are really good; the mountain range looks impressive. Like the snowman - where’s his hat and carrot for his nose? Arthurs Pass looks a bleak and lonely place. Never thought of NZ having snow always imagined it was warm and sunny!! Thanks for your email; good to have news and glad you are enjoying yourself. Keep blogging. Take care Linda

    Hi Nathan
Fabulous photos but who took a bite out of the doughnut, at first I thought you had pinched the ‘art work’ from outiside Asda and painted it till I put the glasses on.

Have lots of fun and take care

    Sorry Sandra … nice though!

Glad to see you’re getting about a bit more … the photos remind me of our trip to Canada … same sense of wild beauty, and I don’t mean your mam.
We have changed over to Sky now but it hasn’t gone too smoothly … that may be because we’ve now got two routers and Gethin is saying I’ve got to go wireless - which probably means he’s disconnected me from mine!!!
The phone is a bit of a mess as well as I spent 40 minutes on Wednesday waiting for BT to answer me to go with them … gave up in the end so we don’t know who we’re with at the moment.

    Take care and e-mail me!!!

PS: you are still talking to me aren’t you?

    Hi Nathan
Photos are fantastic! Looks like you had a great time! Kea is cute! Hopefully we’ll have some snow this year but I’ll try not to get us involved with the mountain rescue this time! Make sure you don’t need to call them out! Having a lazy Sat. been another busy week and we have to be at rugby at 10.00 am tomorrow - two games this week! It’s all good fun though,we’re both still enjoying it once you get over getting up so early on a Sunday! Keep on enjoying yourself & take care, luv, Adelle x

    Hi Nathan jelly head,
It’s me Luc, your pictures are cool, that doughnut is one of my favourite cakes !!! Sorry to say your snowman is a bit rubbish though, I’ll have to give you a lesson if you’re home in time for our snow - we’re going to have loads this year with loads of snow days!!!! We won 7-4 in rugby last week! Hope we win again tomorrow! Training with flood lights now in the dark - it’s cool! Got another swimming award for swimming 25 metres! I’m asking Santa for a Wii so we can have some good games when you come home. Have fun buddy, wuddy, luv, Luc x

Stunning mountains. Glad you’re able to get to see stuff like that …
Have seen both your parents at party type things recently (jewellery, and fireworks at Hankins). Are you picking up any accent to impress us with on your return?
